HOW IT ALL STARTED…
By Linda Kuhn
Have you ever wondered how Texas Classic came to be one of the best swing dance clubs in the south? Well, read on and I will tell you.
What is a Charter Member? Those are the folks that originally started the club.
Late in 1989 there were 19 dancers who had originally been members of the Fort Worth Push Club. We all sat down and decided that it was time to start our own club. This was a scary situation. None of us had ever done anything like this before. We did not even know how to start! Somehow we figured it all out and
Texas Classic Push Club was born.
The name was presented by Gary Myatt (Mike’s brother) with some help from Sherry Myatt. So, on New Year’s Eve 1989 we were born! We had a big party at John & Vicki Boden’s home and celebrated our new beginning. That will make TCPC 20 years old on January 1, 2010.
With 20 years behind us we have had some great leadership. Former Presidents include: Chuck Prickett, J.D. Madewell, Cher Peadon, Linda Kuhn, Robin McBride, Brad Sammis, and our current President Robert Nelson. These are the people that have kept the club alive and prospering, along with a huge membership.
